Bio | Art Statement
I’m Michael Azpeitia. I am currently a Photography student at the School of the Art Institute Of Chicago, I have always had a love of art in all forms. I grew up in Aurora IL a city with a rising art scene and is part of what influenced me to create art, on a personal and professional level. I have always had a connection to telling stories of people that have depth and meaning to me and the people I know who are represented through my photographs.
I am a young artist who likes to connect to real-life experiences with photography. I use my photographs to show my point of view on certain moments in life. Everyone has their own point of view on their specific experiences, and I like to showcase my take on things. I have experience using and developing film to take photos that relate to experiences that are distinctive to me, I would like to continue to push my work both digital and film into a style that is unique to me. My work is generally about taking photos of people and places to capture expression, emotion, and personality while connecting to my own personal experience and culture.
My goal is to become a professional photographer in the future, creating work that is natural, real, and rejuvenating while connecting to my subjects through interesting light, location, and cinematic editing , continue to work with people that inspire me, and grow into a professional working photographer with the resources that the school can provide. I am looking to become the best photographer I can be and will continue to grow with my college experience.
